Community Development.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
- Margaret Mead
Community development is best when a Municipality works collaboratively with community members to grow our Town!
Our community achieved some wonderful projects together. This section will review some of the work we accomplished from 2016-2024.
The Multi-Sports Court is a well-used addition to our Community Park.
We’ve had Festival of the Strait also able to incorporate these facilities for mini-Basketball tournaments.
The Splash Pad is a community favorite loved by all ages!
Thanks to the cooperative efforts of the Port Hawkesbury Community Park Committee (Rotary Club) and the Town for making this a wonderful addition to our Community Park.
Pump Track for Bikes, and any other wheels!
This idea started with a group of 13 year old boys approaching me at Oaklee’s Ball Field…
Public works had two big piles of bark and fill and the boys had made dirt bike ramps on them. When it came time for Public Works to utilize the bark and fill, the boys were left without their “make-shift” pump track.
I brought the idea forward to the Town, and now we have a pump track used by all ages!
Tennis is making a BIG come-back.
We had our tennis courts re-surfaced and thanks to community volunteers, we have tennis and pickle-ball lessons and matches in Town. The Town has also installed improved lighting.
The Community Trails.
The Community Trail Association, in Partnership with the Town of Port Hawkesbury, and our many volunteers have made our Trail systems so amazing and usable. Now more so than ever before, we have so many of our citizens out walking in our Trails!
